About the Breeo Cover
The Breeo cover is designed to protect your Breeo X Series fire pit from the elements. It’s made from a heavy-duty marine-grade fabric. The cover is water-resistant, so it will stand up to the elements.
There are three different size covers, one for each of the three X Series fire pits. So regardless of which Breeo you have, there’s a cover that will fit over it perfectly.
The cover has a drawstring closure, so it can be easily secured around your fire pit. The drawstring tightens right under outer utter rim of the fire pit.
The Breeo cover looks nice too. It features the Breeo logo on two sides.
Why it’s important to cover your Breeo
The Breeo is made with high-quality 304 stainless steel that’s made to be rust-proof. However, Breeo still recommends covering the fire pit to keep the inside dry and free from debris.
If the inside of the fire pit gets wet from rain, it can be pretty messy to clean.
Breeo Cover vs Breeo Lid: Which is best?
Breeo sells two different accessories that seem to serve the same exact purpose: to protect your fire pit. We’ve been talking about the cover, but there’s also a Breeo X Series Lid. Let’s talk about that.
The Breeo X Series Lid
The Breeo Lid is another option for protecting your fire pit. The Lid sits on top of the fire pit and protects primarily the inside of the fire pit from rain and debris.
The Lid is made from the same stainless steel that the X Series fire pits are made out of, so it will last as long as your pit. The cover will last a long time too, but probably not as long as your fire pit. So there’s a chance you’ll have to replace your cover down the road.
Lid, Cover, or both?
So which one works better? Or should you use both? There’s a big debate in the Breeo users community over which of the two is better for protecting the fire pit. More people seem to thunk the cover is ultimately better at protecting your pit.
We actually reached out to the manufacturer to see which they recommended. Here’s the response:
“The most important thing to have covered is the bowl of the fire pit. We recommend the lid as it protects the inside of the fire pit while also turning the fire pit into a table. The Cover is designed to go over top of the lid and the fire pit as a long-term storage option. However, both will protect your fire pit and give you the coverage needed!”
Notice that they say the Cover is designed to over the lid…as a long-term storage option. It’s a bit vague, but prior to that they did confirm that they recommend the lid.
Since it’s made of stainless steel, the lid is more expensive than the cover. At the time of this writing, the lid cost twice as much as the cover. But remember, the lid it stainless steel and will last just as long as your fire pit. Plus, the lid can also be used as table when the fire pit is not in use.
The verdict
As Breeo confirmed, protecting the inside of the fire pit is key. The company recommends the Lid as the better long-term option for protecting the inside of the pit. The cover works too, and given the price difference you wouldn’t be wrong if you get pick the cover.
It doesn’t seem like there a real need for using both. So go with the Lid if you can afford it, otherwise the cover is a solid option.
Caring for your cover
If you decide to purchase the Breeo cover, you’ll want to take care of it, so that it can take care of your fire pit for years to come. The cover doesn’t require much maintenance, but you might want to clean it occasionally and ensure it remains waterproof
Cleaning you cover
Inevitably the cover will get dirty over time. The best way to clean it is to hose it down with water. If there are any stubborn stains, you can use a mild soap and a soft brush. Breeo recommends mixing 2 ounces of mild dishwashing liquid with 1 gallon of lukewarm water.
Keeping your cover waterproof
Your Breeo cover is made with marine grade material. But to keep it waterproof, Breeo recommends treating it annually with a product like 303 or Neverwet.
